Children Program in Orphanages

Volunteer in Children Program is a very challenging and rewarding field that demands a lot of patience, care, love, understanding, an open mind and a willing heart. These orphaned children harsh living conditions have often alienated them from society. A volunteer responsibilities depend on the needs of the orphanages and the day care centers they work in, the skills and interests of the volunteers.

The orphanages and day care centers aim at the provision of education opportunities, access to health services, safe environment and nutrition to OVCs. In most cases volunteers work abroad in Kenya involves participatory learning with children, babysitting, cooking and feeding, helping the younger children to learn how to use the toilet, maintaining hygiene, assisting the older OVCs with their homework, administration and community outreach work as may be requested among others. One of the most wonderful opportunities that working with the children can give you is the chance to share your love and skills with OVCs.

Many volunteers have deemed the work life changing. By offering attention and love to the children, you are making a real difference in their lives. Whether you have a background in childcare or simply enjoy sharing love, a smile can offer something meaningful to the life of the children deprived of love and care. In addition, the dialogue and interaction with local staff provides an opportunity for you to share ideas and build morale. In some placements you will quickly pick up on the daily routine while in others you may need to be more creative in coming up with ideas.

Program Objectives

To create a platform for volunteers to mentor the children and offer them cross cultural exposure

To provide an opportunity for the volunteers to offer educational support to the orphaned/vulnerable children

Supervise the children to clean and dress up.

Cook and feed the children

Design, teach, organize and play games-educational and environmental.

How will a volunteer see his or her contribution after the program?

Supervise the children to clean and dress up.

Your presence will enable the children orphanages and day care centres to remain opened to cater for the needs of the children.

You will see how valuable your love has been shared among the children when they are able to hold hands together and embrace one another.

Through psychological support, the stigmatised children will be able to grow physically and emotionally.

You will have contributed to the lost hope and joy will keep alive through the smile on the children face .Your contribution to the development of the children will be well counted years to come.

Many lives shall be changed as many orphans and vulnerable children will have the opportunity to attend school just like any other children and later hold position in the society.

The community perception on orphans and vulnerable children will be different hence equal treatment of all children.

Who can volunteer in Children Program?

Anyone who has passion for the children and would love to share their love, care and support that the children need. Knowledge, talents and skills may be required in Early Childhood Development, art work, teaching, food and nutrition, outdoor games, Counseling and babysitting.
